Medical English Coaching for International Healthcare Professionals

Working in a healthcare setting requires a level of English precision that goes far beyond everyday fluency. A misunderstood instruction, an unclear patient interaction, or a poorly written clinical document can have serious consequences. For internationally trained doctors, nurses, dietitians, and allied health professionals working or studying in English-speaking environments, medical English isn't just a professional skill; it's a patient safety issue.

Our online medical English coaching is designed specifically for healthcare professionals seeking clinical practice, international licensing, and academic study in English. Sessions are led by a university professor, registered dietitian, and CELTA-certified English teacher with real clinical and research experience. This means we understand your field, your terminology, and the specific communication demands you face every day.

Who This Is For
Our students are internationally trained healthcare professionals at every stage of their careers. They typically include:

  • Nurses, doctors, dietitians, pharmacists, and physical therapists preparing for the Occupational English Test (OET)

  • International medical graduates (IMGs) transitioning into clinical practice in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia

  • Healthcare professionals working in English-speaking environments who want to communicate more confidently with patients and colleagues

  • Clinicians preparing medical reports, documentation, and correspondence in English

  • Healthcare professionals developing patient communication skills, including motivational interviewing

Our Medical English Services

Medical English Coaching — Conversation: [$60 / 45 min]
Our core medical English session, focused on spoken clinical communication. Sessions simulate the real encounters you face in practice, including: patient consultations, handover reports, case discussions with colleagues, breaking difficult news, taking medical histories, and explaining diagnoses or treatment plans in plain language. Each session is built around the specific situations most relevant to your role and specialty. Over time, you will develop the confidence, vocabulary, and clinical communication instincts to handle high-stakes conversations naturally and professionally.

OET Preparation: [$60 / 45 min]
The Occupational English Test is the English proficiency exam specifically designed for healthcare professionals seeking registration in English-speaking countries. Unlike general English exams, OET tests you in clinical contexts and passing requires familiarity with both the exam format and the specific language of healthcare. Our OET preparation sessions can cover all OET subtests; however, we focus primarily on the speaking and writing subtests, which are the most challenging for most candidates. The speaking subtest demands confident, patient-centered clinical communication under exam conditions. The writing subtest requires accurate, formally structured clinical letters and referrals. Sessions are led by an OET-certified instructor with subject-matter expertise in medicine, nursing, and dietetics. Book a free 15-minute initial consultation here.

OET Clinical Scenario Coach — Free Practice Tool
Between tutoring sessions, our AI-powered OET Clinical Scenario Coach gives you unlimited speaking practice on real clinical scenarios, mapped directly to OET assessment criteria. Choose your professional specialty, select a scenario, and practice a patient consultation with an AI patient. After ten exchanges, you receive a personalized coaching debrief focused on clinical communication — the same criteria assessed in the real OET speaking subtest. This tool is free and available to all students. It works best in combination with human tutoring, which addresses the linguistic skills (fluency, pronunciation, and intelligibility) that AI feedback cannot fully assess.

Writing and Editing: [$10 consult / price varies based on scope of work]
For healthcare professionals who need support with written clinical and professional English, including: medical reports, referral letters, case notes, patient correspondence, or professional emails, our writing and editing service provides direct, hands-on revision and feedback. Begin with a 15-minute consult to discuss your document and goals.

Our Courses and Self-Study Resources

Motivational Interviewing in English for International Healthcare Professionals: [$50]
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based clinical communication approach used across medicine, nursing, dietetics, and allied health to support behavior change in patients. Practicing MI effectively in a second language presents unique challenges both linguistically and culturally. This self-paced course is designed specifically for internationally trained healthcare professionals who want to use MI confidently and authentically in English clinical settings. A 20% discount on one future individual tutoring session is included with purchase.

150 Medical Abbreviations Flashcards: [$15]
A practical self-study tool covering the most common abbreviations used by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians. Cards are sortable by terms you know and terms you need to review, with built-in progress tracking. This is a great way to build your vocabulary and prepare tor the OET writing substest.

Why Subject-Matter Expertise Matters
Many English tutors can teach general conversation or exam techniques. Fewer understand what it actually means to conduct a patient consultation, write a clinical referral, or navigate a multidisciplinary team meeting. Our sessions are led by someone who has worked in both healthcare and higher education, which means less time explaining your professional context and more time improving your English. This is medical English taught by someone who speaks your language in more ways than one.

What to Expect
All sessions are conducted online via Zoom, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to your profession, your goals, and your current level.
